About
During this class, students will design and carve a linoleum block to create a unique, handcrafted print. The process begins with brainstorming and sketching a bold, high- contrast design, which is then transferred onto a linoleum block. Students will learn to use specialized carving tools to carefully remove sections of the block, creating a relief surface for printing. Once the carving is complete, they will explore inking techniques using a brayer and practice hand-printing methods with a baren or wooden spoon. This hands-on project will develop essential skills such as composition planning, carving precision, ink application, and print registration. By the end of the class, participants will have their own custom prints to take home and the knowledge to continue exploring linocut printmaking on their own. Instructed by Rhiannon Glazier of Rhi's Creation Co.
