Mississippi Valley Orchestra

The Mississippi Valley Orchestra is a civic orchestra whose star is rising. Founded as a chamber group in 1976 by Edward Schlueter in West St. Paul/Mendota Heights, MVO is now a polished symphony orchestra that performs in venues throughout the Twin Cities. The amateur and professional musicians of MVO, along with artistic director Ho-Yin Kwok, prepare four invigorating concerts each year, performing a wide variety of classical music and partnering with soloists and groups from the Minnesota Orchestra, the University of Minnesota, and other local arts and educational organizations.

Mississippi National River & Recreation Area and Visitor Center

The Mississippi Visitor Center is your information gateway for the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area as well as all 388 National Parks. National Park Rangers provide programs and are available to help plan activities and trips along the Mississippi River or to any National Park. Engaging exhibits, including a giant areal photo of the Mississippi winding through the Twin Cities, are always free to explore.

Mississippi River Trail

Minnesota’s Mississippi River Trail winds roughly 620 miles downriver from its source within Itasca State Park to the Iowa border. Located largely on the shoulders of paved roads and on low-traffic roads, the route also includes relatively long segments of scenic state and regional trails.

Bicyclists have two route alternatives between Cass Lake and Brainerd: Explorer's On-Road Route or Family Friendly State Trail Route.
