The History Center houses artifacts dating from the 1870s when Luverne, the county seat, developed into an agri-business center. A variety of displays are available including the largest collection of nutcrackers in the Midwest. The newly renovated History Center is also a source for genealogy help with over 8,000 obituaries from Rock County
The museum housed inside the Hjemkomst Center interprets the Viking ship replica Hjemkomst & its historic 1982 voyage to Norway. See an exhibit around the ship and a 12-min.video on the building and sailing of the ship. Outside the replica of the Hopperstad Norwegian Stave Church dating back to the 1100s set in beautiful Viking Park beside the Red River of the North is open only with a tour guide at the top of each hour the museum is open. The Church is closed Jan-March. In two lower floors are changing history and art exhibits.

Since the re-opening in 1991, the State has hosted live Broadway touring productions such as Avenue Q, Sweeney Todd and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, concerts featuring Patti Smith and Gordon Lightfoot, author and adventure speaker series and films including the world premiere of the Minnesota-based movie, "Grumpy Old Men." Hennepin Theatre Trust is now the owner and operator of this magnificent structure.

The Historic Paramount Theatre, located in downtown Austin, opened as a first run movie theatre in 1929. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it is an atmospheric theatre with a Spanish motif, one of four atmospheric theatres left in Minnesota. Today it is used as a performing arts center featuring music, plays, dance, and concerts.
Hennepin Arts' Pantages Theatre, opened in 1916 and designed in an Art Moderne/Beaux Arts style, was a vaudeville house originally part of Greek immigrant Alexander Pantages’ renowned consortia of 500 theatre. Building costs were approximately $15,000. The Pantages boasted the first air conditioning in a Minneapolis theatre, which involved cooling the air with ice. Alexander Pantages also innovated the mezzanine, a carpeted lobby on the balcony level with restrooms and telephones.
One of the oldest Methodist churches in the State. It is one of seven native limestone buildings remaining in the village dating back to the mid 1800's. All seven buildings are on the National Register of Historic places. Located on the Minnesota River Valley Scenic Byway.
The Historic Orpheum Theatre opened its doors in 1921 as a vaudeville and live presentation venue, with a capacity for 2,600 patrons. Vaudeville was king of the national touring entertainment circuit, and to accommodate these acts the Orpheum was equipped with an elevator exclusively for large animals. Through the years the Orpheum Theatre has been host to Big Bands, movie premiers, dance troupes, and touring Broadway productions.
Friedrich and Caroline Kiesling, recent immigrants from Germany, built this home in 1861. It survived the US-Dakota War of 1862 and is the only wood-framed house from that era remaining in Brown County.
