According to Minnesota’s last census, there are 29,773 veteran-owned small businesses spread across the state. When thinking about how to thank former members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marine Corps for their service, consider supporting the following local favorites.

At the following special events, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or hiking with trailside luminaries (candles or lanterns) lighting the way. On clear nights, a full moon and twinkling stars may shed even more light on your outdoor adventure.

Greenway Snow Day 2026

Join all your friends in Forks for a snow-filled day of fun with snowshoeing, sledding, iceskating, a cardboard sled race, horse-drawn sleigh rides and much more!

  • Cardboard sled races begin at 2 PM --> Materials can be picked up at the Ski & Bike Shop prior to event.
  • Horse-drawn sleigh rides will run from 12 to 3 PM

Cost: FREE event --> Complimentary equipment use is on a first come, first-served basis

Model Railroad Garage Sale

It's time for another garage sale. Help the museum fund our operations and clear out our warehouse of excess inventory. There will be trains of nearly every scale, buildings, books and other items for sale at hobby show prices!

The sale will take place Saturday, March 7th from 10-5 & Sunday the 8th from 12-3 in our event space near the museum main entranc. No admission required, but while you are here considering visiting the museum!

Light Up the Night Kick-off & Parade

Let's kick-off the dazzling season with a Lights Parade! Join us in downtown Marshall as floats are decked out in lights on Friday November 25th at 6pm. Following the parade, Independence Park will be illuminated with Light Up the Night's winter wonderland of lights and music by Kayla Daniels from 7-8pm!

Norvary

Norvary is a Northern Vietnamese Bistro in Winona. There are two parts implied in the name Norvary- Northern Vietnam cuisine and a variety of chef's growing up most favorite street food items. Owned and operated by first-generation Vietnamese-American husband and wife, the cuisine is rooted in tradition and focuses on creativity.

Cuyuna Rolling Hills Golf Course

The Cuyuna Rolling Hills was developed in three stages. The first stage started in 1923 with sand greens and was designed and built by the local mining companies.

The second stage was laid out in 1932, and with the some small design changes, has kept that basic design up to this day. Harry Middlebrook, with help from both the mining and railroad companies, is primarily responsible for the original design.
