This 450 acre day use park offers a picnic area, vault toilet, hand pump water and a scenic overlook 500 feet above the Mississippi River. Adjacent to Whitman Dam, John A. Latsch State Park features a half-mile trail of 592 steps leading to the top of Mt. Charity.

No vehicle permit required for this park. Day use only. No overnight stays or camping allowed.

I sat this one out but hubby made the climb to the top. He said the 598 steps to the top was pretty difficult but the view is worth the climb

Took two kids under 5. As long as your kids listen and stay close it was okay. We counted 588 steps. Other reviews are accurate also.
