About

Pre-registration is required at https://dakotahistory.org/events/1119-july-30-america-s-250th-genealogy-series-genealogy-workshop-at...

As part of the upcoming Semiquincentennial (250th) anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence, we are offering an "America 250 Genealogy" series to help you uncover your family's history. The series can be taken as a whole, or in individual sections. We will focus on different aspects of genealogy research and provide workshops where you can visit the museum to get help when and where needed. This series is in partnership with the Dakota County Historical Society, the Minnesota Genealogical Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Have you attended our previous presentations and attempted to give them a try, only to get stuck? Or are you an experienced genealogist that has hit a brick wall and would like assistance breaking through? Our April Genealogy Workshop is the perfect place for you to ask questions about how to get started, or find another suggestion on getting past your research hurdle.

Attendees can register for a 40-minute research slot to get one-on-one help from experienced genealogists. Each attendee will sit down with an experienced genealogist and be able to get advice, or work through areas you have been stumped. Research slots are limited to 40-minutes in order to allow others ample time with research, though you can remain in the building and continue to research with others that enjoy genealogy. If there are open time slots, you may be able to continue working with a genealogist, as their time and schedules allow.

Times slots are 6pm, 6:40pm, and 7:20pm, and will fill fast. You must include in the notes field details of what you are looking for, so we can prep to assist you!

As timeslots fill, we are opening a waitlist for additional requests. If registering for a waitlist spot, please let us know in the notes section what slot(s) you would like to be waitlisted for, and we will be in touch if additional genealogists become available!

This workshop is done in partnership with volunteers from the Dakota County Historical Society’s Genealogy Committee, Minnesota Genealogical Society, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
