About

The Backyard and small scale poultry workshop agenda is filled with multiple topics geared toward the needs of the backyard, hobbyist and small scale poultry keepers. It will be especially helpful for new and beginning poultry raisers.

Join University of Minnesota Educators Colleen Carslon and Brenda Miller to learn about poultry husbandry, breeds of chickens, nutrition, housing, city ordinances, biosecurity, getting started raising baby chicks and maintaining a chicken coop and run.

Brenda Miller keeps a small flock of chickens on her family's farm near Osakis Minnesota. Colleen Carlson is a 5th generation poultry keeper and raises chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys on her family's small farm. In addition, Colleen teaches a variety of poultry keeping classes with her work through Extension.
