Glacial Lakes State Park Candlelight Event
Dates
- Saturday, February 14, 2026 | 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
About
Come enjoy an evening in the park. Walk or snowshoe the trail if conditions allow. You will be guided by lantern light along the way or come take in the views of the stars overhead with help from GLASS. If the weather/sky conditions allow, Glacial Lakes Astronomy and Stargazing Society (GLASS) will be on hand to point out a few neat stars and constellations that are in view. Then come warm up by one of the fires with a cup of apple cider and cookies. This event will be a hike at this time due to lack of snow. The trail will be determined as the date gets closer for safety and based on conditions. The trail will be suitable for hikers of all ages.
There is no cost for this event, but a Minnesota state parks vehicle permit is required to enter the park ($7/day or $35/year).
SAVE TIME! Get your vehicle permit in advance. Visit mndnr.gov/reservations, log in (or create an account), click on "entry permit," select a duration of "one-day" ($7) or "year-round" ($35), and continue as directed. You'll receive an email with a permit that can be printed and displayed in your vehicle during your visit.
If you are interested in volunteering with set-up, lighting or take-down of candles please call the park as well 320-239-2860.
***IMPORTANT*** This event will take place regardless of snow conditions, but may be canceled last minuet in the event of bad weather, high fire danger or other unsafe trail conditions. Please check the Glacial Lakes State Park web page or call the park for more information.
