About
Celebrate New Ulm’s German heritage at HermannFest, a unique late-summer festival held at the historic Hermann Heights Monument overlooking the Minnesota River Valley. This free community event features live German and regional music, traditional German and American food, and refreshing local beverages throughout the day. Festivities take place in both Hermann Heights Park and nearby Harman Park, creating a lively outdoor celebration. A highlight of the evening is “Thunder in the Valley,” when the New Ulm Municipal Band performs alongside coordinated cannon fire from the New Ulm Battery, followed by a spectacular fireworks show over the monument. New Ulm is known as the “City of Festivals,” and HermannFest is one of its most distinctive celebrations of culture, music, and community.
