About

In this immersive workshop, students will explore the art of reduction linocut printmaking, creating a multi-layered print using a single carved block. Participants will learn to plan a design in stages, carve sequentially for multiple colors, and use careful registration to achieve precise alignment. The workshop emphasizes thoughtful color layering, transparency, and contrast, guiding students through each stage from lightest to darkest tones. Through hands-on carving, inking, and printing, students will produce a small edition of 3–5 prints, observing how each stage transforms the image. This immersive format allows time for experimentation, problem-solving, and refinement, resulting in stronger, more polished prints. All materials are provided, and students will leave with finished artwork and the skills to continue reduction printing independently.
