Moose Madness Family Festival

The Moose is Loose in Grand Marais during the annual Moose Madness Family Festival! This year’s event will look a little different, but it is still the ultimate family-focused celebration of all things moose. Enjoy the outdoors and learn a few facts about our celebrated mascot along the way with activities, scavenger hunts, quizzes, dance challenges and more.

Below are some of the activities and events happening at this year’s Moose Madness. Stay tuned for more activities and information!

Road North Toolkit

Complete this activity-packed toolkit, perfect for the whole family, ahead of your arrival at Moose Madness. The toolkit will include a quiz full of things to learn about Cook County, coloring sheets, videos and more. Check back for details on how to access the kit!

Moose on a Stoop

The Moose on a Stoop educational scavenger hunt will take families across downtown Grand Marais in search of facts about our favorite animal. Find the secret letter from each fact to complete the code word. Report the code word to Moose HQ at the Cook County Visitor Information Center and receive Moose Bucks you can spend at participating local businesses! (Check back for more details and updates on participating businesses)

Murray Says in Harbor Park

Kids can join the one and only Murray the Moose in Harbor Park on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 1-2 p.m. and play our version of Simon Says with views of Lake Superior and the Grand Marais Lighthouse in the background. Be the last contestant standing and take home the top prize!

Grand Marais State Bank Moose Medallion Hunt

For the sleuths in the crowd, the Grand Marais State Bank Moose Medallion Hunt is a hoot. The first clues are released Friday morning and go on until the medallion is found. Find the medallion? Bring it to Moose HQ at the Cook County Visitor Information Center to claim your prize — $100 dollars CASH!

Take a Moose-Safari

Exploring the boreal forest by foot and boat is the best way to find moose, but you can also take a drive through prime moose habitat with our moose driving routes. Ranging from 1-2 hours, these driving routes will give you an opportunity to find our favorite animal in the wild. Even if you don’t see a moose, you’ll enjoy scenery that cannot be beat!
