FROM MAKERS MARKETS TO THE WORLD-FAMOUS MALL

The opening of Southdale Center, the first fully enclosed shopping mall in the United States, put Minnesota on the map as a shopping destination in 1956. Interest in shopping here increased exponentially with the subsequent opening of the most famous mall in the world, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a variety of special events in 2022. Over the years, many unique shops have also popped up in Twin Cities area shopping districts and along the state's small-town main streets. So bring your curiosity and your credit card and come poke around. You are sure to find some one-of-a-kind treasures.
