Battle Lake Inn is a small, independent and locally owned Motel with an attached RV Park and Lodge. We have 13 rooms of various types and 9 RV Sites - 8 of our sites are booked for the entire season but we rent one site on a short term basis throughout summer.
We are conveniently located off Highway 78 just blocks away from the public beach, lake access, shops, restaurants and the Glendalough bike trail.
Families will enjoy a shallow water pool with interactive water play equipment, separate activity pool with lily pad walk and swim area, and a three story twisting waterslide with plunge area. We also offer a children's hands-on sand play area and adults the chance to relax sun bathing on the deck or lawn areas.
Located less than 5 miles from downtown St. Paul, the Battle Creek Regional Park is a great place for birders and nature enthusiasts. The more than 750 acres of oak woods, old fields, creek and second-growth woodlands provide habitat for a variety of wildlife. The animals that can be found include warblers, horned owls, pileated woodpeckers, white-tail deer, red fox, and raccoon.
Bass Lake County Park and Campground is a pristine park surrounding beautiful Bass Lake and encompasses 663 acres of red and white pine, spruce, aspen, and cedar forest. Located 64 miles north of Grand Rapids, MN. 11 miles east of Effie, MN on state hwy #1. Semi-primitive facilities, tables, grills, handpump wells, and outdoor privies. No elec. or hookup.
Two loops. Scenic overlooks and lakes, rocky ridges and areas with large pines. 3 backcountry campsites near trails. Small waterfall. Choice of hiking distances from 2 to 6 miles. Also a portage trail for the first 3/4 miles. The trail to the lake has been re-designed so that it is wider, more gentle slope, no tripping hazards, and a firmer surface. The Bass Camp story dates back to 1927, when Adolf and Anna Robliecki started a bait shop on an undeveloped stretch on the shores of the Mississippi river. Robert & Patricia Robliecki took over the bait shop in 1965 and started developing the campground in 1973.
Today their children, Mike, Scott, and Myles, run the day-to-day operations of Bass Camp.
The family sees every visitor to Bass Camp as part of their own circle of friends.
This 300 acre forested wildlife management area is along the south shore of the Mississippi River. The shoreline has extensive beds of wild rice and is heavily used by waterfowl and furbearers. There are great opportunities to view forest song birds, as well as wetland wildlife, including Virginia and Sora rails, and nesting Great Blue Herons. Along the Mississippi's edge one can find mink, otters, beavers, and muskrats.
Vasili "Bill" Pitsavas arrived at Ellis Island from Greece in 1956. After learning the pizza-making trade and perfecting his own combination of spices for the all-important sauce, Pitsavas was ready to launch his own business. He opened Basil's Pizza in its current location in Northfield, MN in December of 1960. Originally titled "Bill's Pizza," the name was changed in 1984 and continued to be owned and operated by the Pitsavas family. Through the rest of the 80s, 90s and 2000s, Bill's original recipe has remained Northfield's favorite.
