Annual Cook County Hygge Festival

WE HYGGE, DO YOU?

The Danish concept of “hygge” (pronounced hoo-gah) has been around for a long time. It refers to the ritual of embracing life’s simple pleasures. Feeling relaxed, cozy and surrounded by the warmth of family, friends, community and fire, all encompass the idea of hygge.

Grand Marais and Cook County's annual Hygge Festival takes place Feb. 5 - 15, 2027, offering endless opportunities to experience the cozy, quiet magic of winter in the north woods!

Hot Dog Nite

There are also demonstrations, entertainment, a "wiener dog beauty pageant" and "wiener dog races". Street dance and beer garden wraps up the day's activities!

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s EXPRESS CONCERT: Cassie Pilgrim Plays Bach’s Oboe d’Amore Concerto

Beginning with
Jean-Féry Rebel’s chaotic “big bang” from the Baroque era and ending with
Olivier Messiaen’s multi-colored and haunting music from the Quartet for the
End of Time
, written while he was a prisoner of war, this program — curated
by SPCO Principal Oboe Cassie Pilgrim — explores themes of space and time,
creation and destruction as well as Johann Sebastian Bach’s divine concerto for
oboe d’amore.

The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra: Mozart’s Serenade No. 12

A kaleidoscope of moods and colors unfolds in this dynamic
program, featuring ensembles of flute, woodwinds, and strings in deconstructed
arrangements that are anything but traditional. The music weaves through
strange and beautiful worlds — from the haunting solo flute to mysterious
harmonies and bold, theatrical moments. Mozart’s Serenade in C Minor for Wind
Octet highlights the SPCO woodwind and brass sections.
