Mississippi River Solo / Tandem Kayak Rides

Join Forest History Center staff on a paddling adventure exploring the natural history of the Mississippi River. We'll be on the lookout for beaver, birds, bugs, and so much more. Learn how the river has impacted our landscape and our history. Come get your feet wet and have some fun on a guided tour of our little stretch of the Mighty Mississippi.

Library After Hours

Join us quarterly at the Gale Family Library to get hands-on with rare books, archival collections, photographs, and more! This is a unique opportunity to experience the wide range of materials collected by MNHS, to chat with librarians about their favorite items, and to learn tips and tricks for utilizing our resources.

Great Northern Forest History Tour

Join us for a 60 minute horse drawn trolley tour, presenting a robust history of our site. Topics will include the Mississippi River and the early people of the region, including Native groups and European Settlers. We'll talk about homesteaders, lumberjacks, modern forest management, the conservation ethic, and more!

Purple Funk Metropolis & Gifted Handz

Purple Funk Metropolis is a charismatic seven-piece instrumental band with a raw sound inspired by soul, jazz, funk and more. Their origins trace back to jazz classes at the University of Minnesota. There, Andrew Tomten (bandleader and saxophone) met Alex Browne (trumpet), Sam Rosenstone (keys), Tarek Abdelqader (drums) and Andy Schupp (bass). Various iterations of bands and musical projects developed until the group, with the addition of Alex Graves (guitar) recorded their first EP.

Love & The Outcome and Presence Music

Pop worship group Presence Music and renowned Canadian musical duo - Jodi King and Chris Rademaker - are coming to the Music Factory!

Presence Music will be opening the show. Presence Music is a high-energy pop worship band from Duluth, MN, led by Brandon and Leah Monson alongside Andrew Cpin, Jacob McCormick, Merrill Miller, and frequent guest artists. What started as a group of worship leaders playing camps has grown into a full-time ministry, touring the Midwest and beyond.

Christmas at the Lighthouse

Christmas at the Lighthouse is a guided experience for guests to explore the restored keeper’s house while learning about how the families lived at the station during the winter and the holiday season in the 1930s. Guests also have the opportunity to create a vintage, homemade ornament to take home or decorate the tree in the house.

The Belfast Cowboys

The Belfast Cowboys is a nine-piece, horn-driven band from Minneapolis that specializes in the music of Van Morrison. Entering their third decade, they are adept at mixing rock, blues, roots and soul sounds. Led by veteran songwriter/guitarist Terry Walsh, the Cowboys have flourished in the renowned Minnesota music scene. They have consistently packed houses and wowed crowds since 2002.
