Home Movie Day - Screening Day

Started by the Center for Home Movies in Oakland, California, Home Movie Day is a celebration of amateur movies and filmmaking that takes place in venues all over the county. At Home Movie Day events, screenings take place that allow individuals and families to come show their home movies at an open screening with an audience of their community members. If you haven’t watched your home movies for a long time or just inherited some from a grandparent, or another relative, this event will be a great time to get acquainted with and/or rediscover those family treasures.

Home Movie Day - Film Preservation Workshop

Do you have a pile of home movies and photos that you’re just not sure what to do with? Join the Minnesota Historical Society’s Joe Larsen and April Rodriguez as they go over some techniques for how to care for your physical media at home including how to care for your photos and home movies for future generations, as well as the tools needed to digitize them so they can be more easily shared with the rest of the family.

History Revealed — Hmong Fellows

2024-25 Ramsey County Historical Society and CFHS worked with four fellows to preserve the Hmong heritage and culture along with inspire future generations of Hmong Americans to know more about their ancestry. The fellows centered their learning on preserving physical items, storytelling, film, and fashion among other elements. Linda Lor, Kalia Vue, KaoLee Vang, and Wone Vang will each share their work and experiences within the fellowship. Conversation moderated by Youa Vang

History Revealed - Rubinski Works

Ramsey County Historical Society welcomes Rubinski Works, aka Madison Holler, for an evening of conversation on her artwork. Madison’s work centers around beautiful jewelry that honors her Anishinaabe ancestry. “Nature is a huge inspiration in my work, so my roots in central Minnesota and in northern Minnesota (near my cabin on rainy lake) are engrained in my work, always. From the landscape to the flora and fauna — these are my muses.” Conversation moderated by Youa Vang
