Artist Reception for Catherine Meier

Come and meet Catherine Meier at the Tettegouche Visitor Center and view her latest work based on the Lake Superior shoreline. Catherine will speak about her art and be available for questions and discussions from 7 to 8:30 pm. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Tettegouche.Catherine Meier strives to create in visual artistic form artworks that speak to intricate, beautiful, and unseen understandings of land and place. In the end, she makes drawings and moving images that create spaces of quiet, deep stillness.

This panel discussion will focus on the current understanding of soil from a variety of perspectives. Artists, scientists and cultural representatives will discuss the importance of soil health and offer practical information that will benefit humans and the environment.

Join us for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience at Monticello's Art in the Park, where creativity comes to life along the beautiful banks of the Mississippi River. This juried art and craft fair features talented vendors showcasing unique, hand-crafted treasures you won’t find anywhere else. From stunning artwork and home decor to jewelry and gifts, there’s something for everyone to discover.

Maplewood State Park Candlelight Trek

Maplewood State Park is a winter wonderland and this popular event is a must-do! Join us on a one-mile trek around Cataract Lake, lit by 150 candles. Ski, walk, snowshoe, or just chat around the campfire with friends, enjoy hot chili, smores, bars, and hot drinks.

Chili will be ready to serve by 5:00 p.m., and candles will be lit from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Location is the Trail Center.

Friends of Maplewood will have a limited number of snowshoes for rent. Skis are not available.

Jay Cooke State Park Candlelight Ski, Snowshoe & Walk

Ski, snowshoe, or hike on trails lit by luminaries. Warm up by the fire afterwards with some hot cocoa. Stop in anytime during this ongoing event. Adult and children's snowshoes are available to rent. Meet at the River Inn Visitor Center.

Notes:

1) No need to sign up ahead of time. Rent snowshoes upon arrival at the park headquarters which is next to the River Inn Interpretive Center. Both child & adult snowshoes are $6/pair.

Full Moon Snowshoe Hike

Step into a winter wonderland on a moonlit snowshoe hike! Join us for a 3-mile round-trip adventure to the historic Glen Location, where our expert guides will lead the way, sharing fascinating stories and pointing out local history and nature along the trail. Afterward, we’ll cozy up around a crackling bonfire at the Thompson Homestead to enjoy hot cocoa and roast the perfect s’mores.

2025 Buhl Winter Frolic

The Buhl Winter Frolic offering family fun with kid's games and activities like Candyland, bottle bowling and boot hockey; bring a sled to slide our snow hill and your skates. Enjoy free horse- drawn carriage rides, hot cocoa, apple cider and s'mores. Warm up next to a fire pit and grab a bite to eat with Buns To Go food truck vendor. The fun continues with Entertainment from King of the Road at the Hydeaway starting at 9pm.
