Join us for a walk along the Minnesota River to observe the environmental and cultural changes along the water. You'll hear stories of people who have passed through history, examine the natural communities, and find evidence of natural and human caused changes in the river bottom. You may even see migrating birds amidst autumn’s changing colors! The walk is approximately one mile along a fairly flat, unpaved dirt trail. Pre-registration is required, space is limited.
The 50th Anniversary Prairie Home Companion is a 140-minute show celebrating the last live radio variety show. It begins with a six-minute video on PHC’s origins in Minnesota, followed by Garrison Keillor’s stand-up on the beauty of being 80. The show features comedy sketches, the Royal Academy of Radio Acting, and sound effects wizard Fred Newman. Highlights include an extended commercial for Powdermilk Biscuits, messages from various quirky sponsors, and musical performances by Rich Dworsky and the Guy’s Hot Shoe Band.
