Where to Pick Locally Grown Berries in Minnesota

Nothing compares to the sun-drenched flavor of a freshly picked berry — so juicy and warm, it practically melts in the mouth. Fortunately for us, fresh berries are something Minnesota farmers do very, very well. According to Minnesota Grown, there are more than 90 farms raising strawberries here, upward of 40 growing raspberries and 30-plus with blueberries. Many of them offer berry hounds the opportunity to harvest their own fruit.

Tip Top Dairy Bar

The Tip Top Dairy Bar was originally started by Norman Hansen in 1955. Since that time the Tip Top has had various owners but the name has remained unchanged and the service is friendly with quality food items that are freshly prepared.

The Tip Top offers ice cream cones, malts, and sundaes, along with hamburger baskets and a host of other classic menu items.

PortLand Malt Shoppe

Why the PortLand Malt Shoppe? The historic neighborhood where we are located used to be called Portland. However, the village postmaster became frustrated when he received mail from several other Portland cities. His protests were voiced to the village officials. The officials conferred with their neighboring village, Duluth. It was decided to merge the two villages and become the city of Duluth. Duluth is the most inland port in the United States.

Dairyland

Dairyland has been part of Fergus Falls and the surrounding area since 1955. An old-fashioned seasonal shop that serves malts, shakes, sundaes, and more in an adorable red building.
