Tioga Recreation Area

Tioga Recreation Area is a premier outdoor adventure destination on the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. 500 wooded acres located on two of the region’s most unique lakes features 25 miles of world-class mountain biking, snowshoe trails, beaches, and access to hundreds of miles of waterways.

Portage Park

The Portage Park complex includes six athletic fields with a concession stand, a multi-age playground, a skating rink with warming shack, and a half-mile paved walking trail around the perimeter of the park. Cross country ski trails are connected to the park in the adjacent Bass Brook Wildlife Management Area.

Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park

Covering 446 acres along the Mississippi River, Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park is one of the most popular destinations in Anoka County. Experiences in the park are available year-round featuring a visitor center, picnic pavilions, fishing and boating. The Mississippi River Regional Trail passes through the park which provides biking opportunities between the cities of Minneapolis and Ramsey.

One of the most beautiful and memorable ways to experience a winter night in Minnesota is to explore its scenic trails by candlelight. At the following special events, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or hiking with trailside luminaries (candles or lanterns) lighting the way. Greenway Snow Day 2026

Join all your friends in Forks for a snow-filled day of fun with snowshoeing, sledding, iceskating, a cardboard sled race, horse-drawn sleigh rides and much more!

  • Cardboard sled races begin at 2 PM --> Materials can be picked up at the Ski & Bike Shop prior to event.
  • Horse-drawn sleigh rides will run from 12 to 3 PM

Cost: FREE event --> Complimentary equipment use is on a first come, first-served basis

Model Railroad Garage Sale

It's time for another garage sale. Help the museum fund our operations and clear out our warehouse of excess inventory. There will be trains of nearly every scale, buildings, books and other items for sale at hobby show prices!

The sale will take place Saturday, March 7th from 10-5 & Sunday the 8th from 12-3 in our event space near the museum main entranc. No admission required, but while you are here considering visiting the museum!
