Fort Belmont Civilian Fort Replica & Museum

About

Step into the history of the Minnesota frontier at Fort Belmont.
In June of 1864, settlers in Belmont Township, Jackson County, built a humble log fort—just 18 by 26 feet—surrounded by a protective stockade. Though small in size, it played a big role in offering shelter and security to pioneer families during a time of conflict and uncertainty.

Today, Fort Belmont stands as a powerful tribute to the courage and resilience of those early settlers. The site features a faithful replica of the original 1862 civilian fort, along with historic attractions including a log cabin and stockade, the 1902 Delafield Church, a sod house, a blacksmith shop, the 1873 Lysgard farmhouse, a working grist mill, and a museum filled with local artifacts.
