An 18-mile multiuse trail between City of St Paul & Washington County. Western portion of the trail runs through St Paul, Maplewood & North St Paul, passing through Phalen-Keller Regional Park. Northeastern part of the trail travels through the countryside of Washington County and has an adjacent 10 mi non-paved trail that is open to horseback riders. Eastern end is in Pine Point County Park off Co Rd 55. Many local trail connections. Biking, hiking, in-line skating, horseback riding, xc skiing.
MN Ski pass and Horse pass is required for all cross country skiers and horseback riders ages 16 and over. Passes are available at the DNR Information Center, 651-296-6157 or 888-646-6367.

Due to road construction the trail is detoured. That doesn't mean you now park in neighborhood by extension entrance. Use area parking lots. Streets are becoming a hazard.

The Gateway Trail stretches from St. Paul to Stillwater, or Norrell Ave. It provides shade under a canopy of trees, and has horse trails as well. It is a nice and long path.
