Discover La Crescent - Apple Capital of Minnesota! Enjoy apple blossoms in May, Scenic hikes and bicycling in the summer, fresh apples in fall and the spectacular fall colors. Visit apple stands, gift shops, and enjoy a meal at a local restaurant. Apple Blossom Bike Tour the second weekend in August. Celebrate Applefest the third weekend in September. Nestled in the bluffs along the beautiful Mississippi River in southeastern Minnesota, La Crescent is known for its beautiful apple orchards and spectacular scenery. As well as a variety of outdoor recreation available any time of the year including; boating, fishing, hiking, bicycling, birding, snowshoe and ski trails.
Three scenic byways lead to La Crescent. 1) Apple Blossom Scenic Byway has one of the most beautiful scenic overlooks in Minnesota. 2) The Great River Road runs along the Mississippi River. National Scenic Byway. 3) Historic Highway 16 begins in La Crescent and extends 88 miles to the west ending at Dexter, MN.
