Lake City Historical Society
About
Lake City, Minnesota is homeland of the Dakhóta (Dakota) people and the birthplace of waterskiing. Visit mini-museums and displays in several locations downtown to learn about local history. The Lake City Historical Society maintains exhibit cases located in the historic hall (ballroom) on the second floor of City Hall. It is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. unless there is a meeting or election underway. There is a mini-museum about clamming on the first floor of the Lake Pepin Pearl Button Company shop. An exhibit focused on boating and waterskiing is in the administration building of the Lake City Marina.
