Lake of the Woods County Historical Society
About
Lake of the Woods County Historical Society was formed in 1965 out of interest of local residents. In 1978, they were able to begin construction on a permanent museum. The doors first opened in 1980. Since then they have expanded twice and added an annex which houses larger farming equipment.
The historical society provides care and management for it’s collections, creates educational and informative exhibits, maintains a reference/resource library, conducts research and assists researchers, develops public programs, provides schools with supplemental learning experiences for students, and warmly welcomes visitors to the facility each season.
