It is hard to believe that one mens and ladies clothing store has been open in Albert Lea MN since 1917, but it is true. Leutholds first opened its doors in downtown Albert Lea, then made the move to the Northbridge Mall in 1988, and returning to downtown Albert Lea in 2024. Current owners Bill & Paula Hertling took over in 1992 and have been working together in the store ever since supported by several part time employees who serve customers along with a seamstress who provides in store alterations.

The Hertling’s attribute the long success of the Albert Lea store to loyal customers who have enjoyed their approach to the clothing business……unsurpassed customer service partnered with clothing you can touch, feel and try on. Plus they make sure it fits right! While all the big department stores tried to be everything to everyone, Leutholds has focused on being a niche store focused on providing the fashions you can’t find in the big box stores. From casual to dressy they stock clothing from some of the world’s best companies, and both Bill & Paula still attend the big clothing markets every year. In addition, Leutholds is now the only store in the area that provides formal wear and Bill & Paula love helping all the wedding parties and prom attendees look their best for their big events. Last, but certainly not least, medical uniforms have been a big hit with the local companies.
