Designated historic site, by the City of Hoyt Lakes; restoration of drill site at end of a .25 mile nature trail; first diamond drill hole sunk in the search for iron ore in 1890. Outdoor recreation is a way of life in Hoyt Lakes,with every season bringing its own special activities. In winter, you can enjoy cross-country skiing, ice fishing, ice hockey, and snowmobiling.

Summer fun includes golfing, camping, fishing, swimming and more. In addition to facilities for bowling, trap shooting, volleyball, softball, indoor and outdoor basketball, there are regulation tennis courts, paved hiking and biking trails, and a sandy swimming beach. Golfing is a challenge at the 9 hole (2 sets of T-Boxes) municipal golf course. Camp at one of the 70 campsites at Fisherman's Point Campground located on a beautiful wooded peninsula on Whitewater Lake or plan to stay at the new Country Inn and Suites Motel.

The Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival held in July, has activities that include a water ski show, open air dances, fireworks, parade, tennis, volleyball, softball and golf tournaments, and much more. Other celebrations are the Whitewater Walleye Classic held in June.
