See early mine trucks, climb into the cab of a 1907 steam locomotive and a 1910 steam shovel or walk down into a simulated underground mine drift. Several buildings hold old fire trucks, 1916 bus, extensive large-format mineral samples, mine office and lab, and displays of early mining town life including schoolroom, broom factory, shoemaker's shop, print shop, dress shop and home. WPA-era structures include a stone castle (admissions,) wall & amphitheater. Railroad diorama by F. Lee Jaques. Authentic Finnish sauna. Self guided tours. Guided group tours, pre- and post-season group visits by appointment.
Dates
Open daily Memorial Day weekend through mid-September, 9am-5pm Mondays through Saturdays, and 1-5 pm Sundays. Open by appointment mid-September through September 30.
Rates
Adults $8, students $6, senior citizens, active military and veterans $7, under age 6 free.
Free admission and 10% store discount with membership.
