Northern Tallgrass Prairie NWR

About

The Northern Tallgrass Prairie National Wildlife Refuge is approximately 4392 acres in size. It was established to provide a means to permanently preserve a portion of northern tallgrass prairie in western Minnesota and northwestern Iowa. Refuge lands provide visitors the opportunity to view waterfowl, songbirds, marsh and wading birds, shorebirds, raptors, and upland game birds. Other animals to watch for include white-tailed deer, red fox, ground squirrels, and coyotes.

Refuge Headquarters - Open 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
