From the doorsteps of Painted Rock, Cedarwood Hollow, WoodSong, and SweetWater Cottage are hundreds of miles of Sawtooth Mountains trails, perfect for hiking in the summer and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. A nearby trail will lead you to the Cascades, a series of five waterfalls, or you can take an easy half-mile walk to Cascade Restaurant & Pub for great food, drinks, and frequent live music. And everything the North Shore is known for is within a thirty-minute drive: world-class hiking, fishing, kayaking, bike trails, skiing, art galleries, restaurants, the NorthHouse Folk School, a vibrant music scene, and more. After all, this is the heart of Cook County and Grand Marais, which was recently named the "Coolest Small Town in America!"
