About 90 miles north of Twin Cities, 60 miles south of Duluth via I-35. At Sandstone exit #191, take Hwy 61 west about 2 mi; turn right on Cty 27 then left at 'T' (still 27). Go 3 mi, turn right on Fox Rd (Cty 17), then immediate left into Audubon Dr.

About

A non-profit residential environmental learning and 'green' conference & retreat center on Grindstone Lake near Sandstone, MN. On a diverse 780-acre sanctuary, our unique center features geothermal, solar and wind power systems. We can provide lodging and meals for 162 visitors and offer a wide variety of program options ranging from challenge such as high ropes course to team-building to wildlife and outdoor skills to environmental. The Center has range of dispersed learning environments including barn, yurt, log cabin, formal classrooms, lounges, and of course, the great outdoors!

Situated on over 535 serene acres on the shores of Grindstone Lake near Sandstone, we have over 7 miles of trails through a variety of habitat, including old growth forest, managed forest, wetlands, and restored prairie. Our unique site provides a wonderful setting for your meeting or gathering; quiet and secluded, surrounded only by the soothing sounds and sights of the Minnesota outdoors.

We do not allow ATV’s or other motorized recreational vehicles on our property, so you can be assured of a quiet site, where the only sounds you will hear are the lapping of waves on the rocks, wind blowing through the old white pines, or songbirds singing in the treetops.

Whether you are looking for a location for a short field trip or day-long meeting, have a weekend retreat needing meals and lodging, want to schedule a company party or banquet, or need to rent the entire center for a larger group, the Audubon Center of the North Woods provides a conveniently located, affordable and natural setting for your group or event.

Office & trails are open Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Trails also accessible on some Saturdays, but please call first. Adult and youth programs throughout the year - check our website.
