Indígena by Owamni (pronounced: In-DEE-Hay-Na), marks a new chapter, expanding the culinary scope, physical space and cultural reach of the James Beard award-winning restaurant founded by Chef Sean Sherman.
Indígena by Owamni offers:
- An expanded menu offering steaks, and larger game cuts such as bison, elk, and venison
- A full oyster bar and expanded seafood offerings highlighting the Indigenous diaspora
- A comprehensive bar program specializing in BIPOC-produced beer, wine, and spirits, alongside inventive cocktails and mocktails
- Continued shareable plates and tapas-style service
- A new Chef’s Table—seating 12 to 16 guests—for curated tasting menus, coursed dinners, and guest chef residencies.
Indígena by Owamni will also introduce a pre-theater menu tailored for guests dining before Guthrie performances, as well as post-show drinks and bar food service. Reservations will be available via
Indígena by Owamni reflects a broader vision, offering a more expansive dining experience that showcases the diversity of Indigenous cuisines across North America and welcoming more guests. The new location, located next to the Mississippi River in the Guthrie Theater, doubles Owamni’s original space with 204 indoor seats and approximately 100 patio seats.
