With our great selection of Guides we can taylor a trip or class to give you the best experience possible.

Root River Rod Co was founded by the late Steve Sobieniak in April 2017. Steve was a magnificent Bamboo Fly Rod Maker and opened the fly shop to showcase and sell his fly rods. In the fall of 2022, Steve Sobieniak passed away due to cancer. Now Root River Rod co is owned and operated by his daughter, Alayna Sobieniak and son-in-law, Lance Prado.

We are a family-owned and operated fly shop. We are full service fly shop and guide service. We carry a great selection of gear from the best brands in the business like Simms, Grundens, Patagonia, Winston, Fishpond, Ross Reels, Redington, Umpqua, Fulling Mill, Hareline and more!

One thing that separates us from other fly shops is that we carry vintage bamboo fly and new bamboo fly rods. Also have a good selection of vintage reels. Lance is working on taking up Bamboo fly rod making and has been taught by Steve before he passed away will soon be taking orders for custom Bamboo Fly Rods.
