Home of the World Famous Kensington Runestone--making Alexandria, MN the Birthplace of America! Come and see historical artifacts that support the theory that Middle Age Vikings explored this land long before Columbus. The Runestone Museum also offers a Children's Discovery Room, an Ice Age Giants Exhibit, a First Peoples of Minnesota Exhibit, an outdoor "Fort Alexandria" replica with real buildings from the 1860s-1910s, a 40 foot Viking Ship and much much more! Visit our Museum Shop--the perfect place to purchase unique and local gifts. We are located downtown on Braodway near the Central Lakes Bike Trail.

I expected to simply see the runestone and learn of its history. There was a good selection of Minnesota history and a few early pioneer buildings in addition to the stone. We spent 1-2 hours there.
