Rydell National Wildlife Refuge
About
The Refuge is located on the Glacial Lake Agassiz beach ridge transition zone. The habitats consist of northern tallgrass prairie, prairie wetlands, maple-basswood forest, oak savannah, and mixed hardwood re-growth. The Refuge Visitor Center is wheelchair-accessible and an extensive 7-mile paved trail system allow for optimum wildlife observation and photography. There is a diverse combination of mammals, raptors, invertebrates, and over 100 species of migratory waterfowl and songbirds.
Dates
Refuge headquarters - open 7:30 am to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. Visitor Center is open year-round, but seasonal hours are subject to change, and are greatly extended during the summer months. Contact Refuge for current hours of operation.
