About

This bed and breakfast space (minus the breakfast) is an entire apartment, about 1,300 sq feet, on the upper level of an historic bank and jewelry store building. The ground level is currently under renovation and will be a very nice coffee shop (think pour over coffee and espresso drinks). The apartment has much of the character of the original 100 year old building, but with modern upgrades. The spacious apartment has one completely private bedroom (with a balcony), a second semi private bedroom off the kitchen, and a living room with fireplace. All 3 spaces have queen size beds (the bed in the living room is a new pull out sofa). There is also a small dressing room off the master bedroom with a twin bed. There is a dining room, kitchen and bathroom. There is a stairway on the outside of the building... about 25 stairs up, to a private deck and the entrance. The apartment is on what we call Main Street, although the real name is 2nd Street. Directly across the street is Revelation Ale, a craft brewery that is new and very successful, operating out of a former gas station. Their usual hours are Thursday-Saturday 4 pm - 9 pm. A few miles out of town is Far North Spirits, the northernmost distillery in the contiguous United States. Far North is one of a handful of authentic field-to-glass estate producers of small-batch, craft-distilled spirits, including gin, vodka, whiskey and Nordic rum. There is a municipal swimming pool in Hallock, a library, two parks, as well as a 9 hole golf course along the Two River. Lake Bronson State Park is about 10 miles east of Hallock, and the international border with Canada is 20 miles to the north. Hallock is surrounded by abundant natural resources and wildlife habitat. The City of Hallock was named after Charles Hallock, a well-known New York naturalist and writer, who wrote about Hallock’s birds, tall grass, flora and wildlife and referred to Hallock as “a Sportsman’s Paradise.” Hallock is home to a broad array of birds, as we are located in a unique intersection between two major migratory flyways. The Norway Dunes -- sand dunes -- are located in Norway Township in eastern Kittson County and are managed by The Nature Conservancy. This is a true wilderness where you can see Blazing Stars, wild mushrooms, wood lilies, bergamot, wild berries and even black bears.
