The Fourth of July — a time for swimming in the lake, rock skipping, shopping, agate hunting, donuts, long hikes, canoe trips, fudge, fireworks, and time with your family. It’s the true kick-off for summer here in the north woods and we’d love to have you join us! Take the weekend (or the whole week) to get away from the bustle of the city and enjoy what summer on the shore has to offer. Many who visit our neck of the woods end up coming back time and time again because they just cannot fit all of the fun to be had in to only one visit. Enjoy one of the fireworks displays our communities put on every year in Tofte, Grand Marais, and Grand Portage.

And speaking of Tofte! It's the place to be in Cook County on July 4th! With a full day of events and activities. 

The annual Tofte celebration event includes the annual Tofte Trek Wilderness Walk/Run, live music, food vendors, craft vendors, kid's games, a parade, and fireworks. The event is a based around fundraising efforts for the Tofte and Lutsen Fire Departments as well as other nonprofit organizations and small businesses in Cook County.
