I Am Woman--Hear Me Roar

About

“Twin Cities cabaret staple” – Star Tribune

Join us for an evening celebrating some of the greatest women singers and songwriters ever! With Lori Dokken at the piano, these Twin Cities vocalists will turn the Dakota stage into a celebration of some of the matriarchs of music. Sit back and enjoy the vibrant vocal harmonies these girls put to tunes made famous by such divas as Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Annie Lennox, Carole King, Tina Turner, Judy Garland, Christina Aguilera and many more. It promises to be a fantastic evening of hearing these women “roar” as only they can!

Over the past four decades, Lori Dokken has performed at every major venue in the Twin Cities. A sought-after accompanist, she is also a successful concert producer, educator, vocal coach, arranger, and vocalist. Currently the Music Director at Unity Minneapolis, she has also been the MD for everything from ensembles at McNally Smith College of Music to acts at the Bryant Lake Bowl. She has produced headline shows for cruise ships as well as local cabaret acts and has opened for legends like Eartha Kitt, Carole King and Tony Bennett.

Patty Peterson has performed to sold-out audiences all over the country. In addition, Patty received the coveted Minnesota Music Award 7 times for best vocalist as well as best jazz recording, and in 2019 she was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.

Judi Vinar has been singing since the age of four. Starting with folk/country, musical theater, and opera, Judi has explored jazz, pop, R&B, rock, Gospel, and now tackles just about any style. She has worked with The Wolverines, JazzMN Big Band, The Girls, and has toured extensively with Bobby McFerrin.

Rachel Holder is a singer living in St. Paul. Her versatile vocals have been heard with some of the biggest names in the Twin Cities music scene, and she has a regular presence at venues such as The Dakota, Crooners, and Keg and Case Market.
