Where to Buy and Drink Nonalcoholic Beer, Wine and Cocktails in Minnesota
Minnesota’s legacy in the alcohol industry dates back to the mid-19th century, when its barley-rich landscape laid the foundation for pioneers like Yoerg Brewing Company and Schell's. Following Prohibition, the state became a hub for independent craft breweries, a vibrant tradition that continues to thrive today.
Now, Minnesota is not only celebrated for its craft beer but also for its thriving NA scene, a booze-less revolution led by local entrepreneurs, bartenders, scientists, and brewers.
NA Beer
Minnesota has emerged as a national leader in the growing nonalcoholic beer movement, largely thanks to the St. Paul-based company ABV Technology. Its patented, highly scientific process helps breweries produce full-flavored, non-alcoholic recipes without sacrificing quality.
Northeast Minneapolis’ Bauhaus Brew Labs has been a staple of the local brewery scene since 2012. From the taproom, guests can glimpse the brewhouse, where bold, innovative flavors come to life, and a special selection is dealcoholized.
Bauhaus currently offers four rotating NA brews, ranging from a crisp Helles Lager to a refreshing Citrus Berry Sour. All of which are available for nationwide shipping. Grab a can near you or experience them fresh on tap at Bauhaus.
Summit Brewing launched its Nialas non-alcoholic lineup in 2022. Inspired by Summit’s Irish Head Brewer, the name (Gaelic for “nothing”) reflects the brand’s creative approach to brewing without the buzz. The lineup features a diverse range of styles, including an NA IPA, Lager, Bock, and Irish-style brew, each crafted with innovation and Summit’s signature flair.
Wooden Ship, a Minneapolis brewery that proudly describes itself as dog-friendly, kid-friendly, and, most importantly, “YOU-friendly”, has recently made an exciting addition to its canned list with the launch of two non-alcoholic brews. Their NA Hazy IPA offers the juicy, hop-forward character fans expect from the style, while the NA Imperial Dark Brew delivers bold flavors with surprising depth for an alcohol-free option. Both beers are gluten-reduced, carefully dealcoholized, and pasteurized to ensure quality and consistency.
Ursa Minor, one of Duluth’s most beloved breweries, has crafted the perfect nonalcoholic counterpart to their classic Cream Ale. NA Wine, Mixers and More
While Minnesota's breweries are making big waves in the non-alcoholic beer scene, the state is also home to a growing variety of alcohol alternatives that go well beyond the pint glass. Building on this success, Sharab introduced Shrub N’ Bubs, a line of ready-to-drink, sparkling shrub beverages that combine the vibrant acidity of their classic shrubs with bubbly refreshment.
