Osakis is 157 years strong and growing with a population of 1,740 residents located in both Douglas County and Todd County in west central Minnesota. Osakis is also located on the south end of Lake Osakis, a 6,300-acre fishing and recreation area with unique Indian history.

Lake of the Woods County Historical Society

Lake of the Woods County Historical Society was formed in 1965 out of interest of local residents. In 1978, they were able to begin construction on a permanent museum. The doors first opened in 1980. Since then they have expanded twice and added an annex which houses larger farming equipment.
