The First Stage Gallery & Lyric Center for the Arts

The mission of the Lyric Center for the Arts is to provide arts and educational opportunities to children and adults while renovating the historic Lyric Building. The Lyric is a 1912 Opera House designed by Ellerby, Round and Sullivan. The Lyric presents musical and theatrical performances in the Lyric Annex throughout the year. B'nai Abraham Museum and Cultural Center

The B'nai Abraham Synagogue, built in 1909-10, was the las remaining active synagogue on the Iron Range. It was acquired in 2004 by Friends of B'nai Abraham. Under their oversight, restoration of the building is history of Virginia's Jewish community and provides a local venue for summer musical and cultural events.

Where to Find Wildflowers in Minnesota

Every spring we eagerly await the first sprouts and blossoms of our state’s native wildflowers, and throughout the seasons we follow their blooming south to north, east and west. Here are a few of our favorite places to visit.

Crystal Frolics

Crystal Frolics is an annual celebration of Crystal, featuring thousands of visitors, entertainment, inflatables, food trucks, beverages, and more. The event is a celebration of things that make the City of Crystal and the surrounding community great! The celebration is jointly hosted by the Crystal Frolics Committee, Inc., a 501 (c)(4) non-profit organization, and the City of Crystal.

Yellow Rose Races

The Yellow Rose 5K/10K Races serve as an anchor for the day with vendor market and pancake breakfast taking place alongside it. Activities, food trucks, and live music carry on throughout the afternoon with an evening movie showing on the hill.

Towards an Infrastructural Ecology

The Internet Pigeon Network (IPN) is a prototype-solution for internet access infrastructure based on homing pigeons in the Gaza Strip that is resilient, scalable, less open to surveillance and destruction, works without electricity and without reliance on the Israeli backbone, as well as is affordable, community-managed and owned, and environmentally sustainable. Economically it fosters job creation and new businesses, and saves the exorbitant costs of machinery and backbone connection through Israel.

Theater: Bright Star

Broadway’s Bright Star tells a sweeping tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920s and ’40s. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, he awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Haunted by their unique connection, Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past – and what she finds has the power to transform both of their lives. With beautiful melodies and powerfully moving characters, the story unfolds as a rich tapestry of deep emotion.
