Come to this north-country wilderness park where waterfalls cascade through a volcanic canyon surrounded by majestic forest. The trails in the park are carved through a forest of fir, cedar, spruce, and northern hardwoods. Although the trails are steep and challenging for hikers and backpackers, they offer spectacular views. Try your hand at fishing for the chance to catch trout and splake in Benson Lake. There are secluded campsites along the cascading Manitou River and Benson Lake for backpackers only. The remote sites range from 1/4 to 4-1/2 miles from the parking area.
Open year-round, the three-mile Genoa Trail in northeastern Minnesota begins near Eveleth and ends at the Sherwood Forest Campground in Gilbert. From the campground, riders have access to a trail into the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area.

The Geneva Lake Wildlife Management Area is on the northwest corner of Geneva Lake. During spring and fall migrations large flocks of waterfowl can be spotted. Species that can be found include Canada goose, mallard, wood duck, northern shoveler and gadwall, and diving ducks such as canvasback, redhead, ring-necked duck, lesser scaup and bufflehead. Other species include American pelican, pied-billed and western grebes, yellow-headed blackbirds, great blue herons, and bald eagles.
