Join us on September 4th for an evening with local singer and songwriter Steven J. Schmidt as he shares his stories, music, & inspiration for his latest CD "The Driftless Sessions". An accomplished musician, Schmidt is widely known for his guitar skills and moving lyrics. This evening will give you a first insight and foretaste of the big CD release concert on Saturday, September 6th. This is a free event for all to enjoy!

Statewide Star Party

Jeffers Petroglyphs is partnering with the Bell Museum for the 2025 Statewide Star Party. All across the state folks will gather to stargaze! This years theme, Aurora Voyage: Chasing the Northern Lights, is an invitation to celebrate the beauty of Minnesota’s northern skies and learn more about this beloved phenomena.

Songs We Used to Sing

An evening of praise and worship songs from the 80's and 90's with Dan and Sandy Adler and former Open Door Worship Band!
Modern Worship has lots of great songs, but there are also many great older songs that aren’t sung often anymore. After such a great response to the first Songs We Used to Sing concert, Dan and Sandy Adler, for the second time, are bringing together a group of singers and instrumentalists that used to lead worship with them at Church of the Open Door in the 80’s and 90’s! It'll be a participative evening of praise and worship music from the past!

Queer Northfield, Then and Now

Queer Northfield, Then and Now introduces attendees to LGBTQIA+ history in Northfield and greater Minnesota. This event, hosted at the Northfield Public Library, blends presentations by Leila Stallone and Ulysses Swanson (Minnesota Historical Society) as well as Jaden Janak and Averill Earls (St. Olaf College) with stories from community members. This event is held in collaboration with Northfield Pride, Northfield Public Library, and the Minnesota Historical Society.

Pavek After Dark: House on Haunted Hill

This annual event showcases a live radio play featuring members of the Minnesota Broadcasters Hall of Fame and includes a silent auction supporting the Pavek Museum’s mission. This year’s performance pays homage to the horror classic, House on Haunted Hill with a distinct Minnesota twist. Opening Nights - HSO Fall Concert Series

Opening Nights, will feature violinist Steven Zander in Ralph Vaughan- Williams’s The Lark Ascending, one of the most popular violin solos in the repertoire. In addition to performing with many orchestras in the Los Angeles area, Steven can be heard each summer in our own backyard with the Lakes Area Music Festival. This concert will also include the world premiere of Dr. Kyle Brown’s Radiant, a work specifically commissioned for your Heartland Symphony. Dr. Brown teaches at Central Lakes College and Bemidji State, as well as playing piccolo with HSO.
