This style, developed from work songs and folk chants, evolved over the decades into a tradition that’s inspired countless musicians, arrangers, and composers from across the globe. Join LAMF musicians and host/curator, Loki Karuna, in a special presentation of works inspired by the Blues and other folk traditions, featuring compositions by Maurice Ravel, David Baker, Louis Chauvin, and Paul Schoenfeld.

Vienna Teng

Songwriter Vienna Teng re-emerged in 2024 with her mashup song pair We’ve Got You. There, she released her first new music in over a decade. However, her fans have been here the whole time. They’ve packed concert venues even in years between releases, and crowdfunded an ambitious music video in hours. Additionally, they joined by the hundreds when she launched her “music x climate action” Patreon in 2022.

Snowshoe Hikes at MDC

Step into a winter wonderland on a moonlit snowshoe hike! Join us for a 3-mile round-trip adventure to the historic Glen Location. Guided by a member of MDC’s Recreation Team, you will hear fascinating stories about our local history and will learn interesting tidbits about the nature surrounding you. Afterward, we’ll all cozy up around a crackling bonfire at the Thompson Homestead to enjoy hot cocoa, apple cider, and s’mores.

Masters of Hawaiian Music

Three Masters, who regularly perform at Maui’s renowned Slack Key Show, share the uniquely Hawaiian styles of slack key guitar and ‘ukulele. These styles originated in the early 19th century when Portuguese immigrants introduced the ‘ukulele to Hawai‘i and Mexican cowboys brought guitars along with their ranching knowledge. Ever since, Hawaiians have made these instruments their own.

Dive into the hobby of puzzles and board games at the Brooklyn Park Game Night & Puzzle Competition. Participate in a puzzle competition, play light board games with friends and family while listening to live music, or browse the used puzzles and board games market.
