They’ve packed concert venues even in years between releases, and crowdfunded an ambitious music video in hours. Guided by a member of MDC’s Recreation Team, you will hear fascinating stories about our local history and will learn interesting tidbits about the nature surrounding you. Afterward, we’ll all cozy up around a crackling bonfire at the Thompson Homestead to enjoy hot cocoa, apple cider, and s’mores.

These styles originated in the early 19th century when Portuguese immigrants introduced the ‘ukulele to Hawai‘i and Mexican cowboys brought guitars along with their ranching knowledge. Ever since, Hawaiians have made these instruments their own.
