Green Fair Folk Festival

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite the public to the 2025 Green Fair Folk Festival on Wednesday, August 6, from 4-8 p.m., on the west lawn of St. Francis Convent, Little Falls.

Browse the exhibits and find earth-friendly products, “green” education, fair trade items, seasonal produce; observe the work of local artisans, all while listening to some amazing music. Bring your blankets or folding chairs and enjoy a wide variety of entertainment featuring students and faculty students from St. Francis Music Center and other local talent.

Great Expectations

A vivid stage adaptation of the story of Pip, and his transformation from a poor orphan to a man of means. He encounters the bizarre Miss Havisham, the convict Abel Magwitch, a mysterious benefactor, and others in his quest to become a gentleman and realize his great expectations. The action moves deftly from scene to scene in this crisp re-telling of the famous tale by Charles Dickens.

Great American Think-Off

The Great American Think-Off is an exhibition of civil disagreement between powerful ideas that connect to your life at the gut level. The Cultural Center sponsors this annual philosophy contest which invites people to submit an essay (750 words or less) for a chance to win one of four $500 cash prizes and participate in the live debate to ultimately answer the question, determined by audience vote.

Grand Portage National Monument Rendezvous Days

August 8-10, 2025

Travel back in time to 1797. The hustle and bustle of summer activity peaked with the North West Company Rendezvous held at Grand Portage. This was the time when furs from wintering posts, were delivered down the Grand Portage Trail.

Detroit Lakes Parade of Lights

Parade Party at 5pm at Holmes Street and Washington Avenue crossing; Christmas music, holiday treats and downtown sparkle lure tourists and locals into the Christmas spirit. Parade begins at 5:30 pm travels north on Lake Avenue, turns east onto Frazee St and north again on Washington Ave. Brilliantly lit floats pass by, each with creative use of Christmas lights.
