Extravaganza at the Village of Yesteryear

SCHS held its first Extravaganza over 35 years ago to celebrate our heritage and to provide a venue to share with our friends and neighbors the crafts and skills of the Steele County community. Extravaganza draws thousands from the region to enjoy music, food and festivities on a Sunday afternoon.

Discover never-before-displayed artifacts from the American Swedish Institute's collection and the untold stories that make them truly extraordinary in this playful new exhibition. Visitors can draw on the walls of the museum, discover a 20-foot-tall Dala horse and so much more as they explore the many rooms of the historic Turnblad Mansion – including some that will be open to the public for the first time in decades.

The Jerome Ceramic Artist Project Grant program supports the work of Minnesota ceramic artists at relatively early stages in their careers, as they accomplish short-term, specific objectives.

Everything's Coming Up Roses

Spring is here and the Bloomington Chorale is honoring the new season with popular springtime melodies. "Everything's Coming Up Roses" will be performed twice, on May 15 at 7:30 PM and on May 16 at 4:00 PM.

There is live music, food trucks, games, and tons of dancing on the street!

Ethnic Fest

Entertainment from around the world! Three stages of music fill the city with multi-cultural sounds. Food and craft vendors line the streets of Walker. Family entertainment and interactive activities are held throughout the day.

ETHEL + Robert Mirabal: The River

ETHEL, a classically trained string quartet, and Robert Mirabal, an acclaimed Native American musician, instrument builder and three-time GRAMMY Award winner, present The River. This integral journey in instrumental virtuosity, song and storytelling honors Water as the embodiment of spirit and its essential role in life on Earth. Filled with messages of generosity, love and gratitude, The River leaves audiences with hearts healed and hope renewed.

After the performance, meet the musicians, enjoy each other's company and snack on light appetizers. Cash bar. Begins at 9pm.

Embarrass Region Fair

The Embarrass Region Fair Association sponsors an annual fair held at the end of August, as well as, other events throughout the year. This three day event is loaded with family fun including: Exhibits, Softball, Horse Show, Mud Run, Demolition Derby, Flying Finn 10K Run, Horse Shoe Tournament, Team Penning Competition and much more. This event occurs the last full weekend in August at the Embarrass Timber Hall.
