Laureate Writers’ Series Features Allisa Cherry at the Blue Heron

The Laureate Writers’ Series will feature Alisa Cherry, author of the poetry collection An Exodus of Sparks. She is the 2024 recipient of the Poetry Prize given by Michigan State University’s Center for Poetry. Her work has appeared in TriQuarterly, The Journal, The McNeese Review, The Penn Review, and other literary journals. The Laureates Series is sponsored by the Blue Heron Coffee Shop, by Second Chapter Books of Winona, and by Friends of the Winona Public Library. The program begins at 7 p.m. and takes place at the Blue Heron Coffeeshop, which serves beverages and treats.

WSU Piano Recital featuring Deanne Mohr

Winona State University faculty member Deanne Mohr will be performing a piano recital in the DuFresne Performing Arts Center Recital Hall at WSU. The program will feature works by Handel, Chopin, and Ravel. Canadian pianist Deanne Mohr received her Bachelor of Music degree with great distinction from the University of Regina while under the tutelage of William Moore. She pursued graduate studies with Marc Durand at the University of Montréal, receiving a doctorate in piano performance in 2000.

Art Mart

Starting May 8th, Imagine Martin will host 10 Art Mart events in downtown Fairmont every other Thursday, 4:00–7:00 PM. Each Art Mart will feature live music, food trucks, local restaurants, artists, makers & creative entrepreneurs! Thanks to a generous Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council grant to help make this possible!
