Basset Hound Races

Everyone’s favorite races are back! The annual Canterbury Park Dog Races are an absolute staple event over the summer. Come out to experience a variety of dog breeds race against one another in competition to place for the Best in Show races, alongside live racing! The winners of each race will advance to the Best in Show finals for a chance to be crowned the champion of their breed on Labor Day Weekend (Sunday, Aug. 31). Races will be held between Live Racing on the main track.

Bash for Mental Health

Bands on the Bluff: Brooklyn Big Band

Bring your lawn chair or find a spot on the stone seating at Historic Fort Snelling's spectacular Klas Overlook amphitheater for a free outdoor band performance by the Brooklyn Big Band!

The 18 piece Brooklyn Big Band was founded in 2006 by BUMC music director Michael Anderson and North Hennepin Community College Jazz Ensemble Director David Mantini. Originally formed to play big band jazz arrangements, the BBB has expanded to classic, standard and modern jazz music.

Author Event: "The War at Home" with Greg Gaut

The Charles Lindbergh House and Museum is thrilled to host Greg Gaut for a talk about his new book The War at Home. He will discuss Minnesota’s history from the beginning of the First World War in Europe in 1914 through the 1920 US election. His book provides a bracing assessment of the war’s enduring impact on American society, including illuminating context for the present moment.

Books will be available for purchase and signing.

At War and At Home: The WWII Experience

Join them on July 12 and 13th as they turn the clock back to 1945 once again! They will have authentic WWII era military vehicles, weapons demonstrations, children’s activities, WWII trivia, and more! Hot dogs will also be available for purchase throughout the event.
