In 2022, she made history. Then, she became the first Black woman to be nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition. That same year, she also earned an NAACP Image Award nomination. Later, she won the 2024 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Jazz Album for her latest, Brand New Life.

Braham Pie Day

Braham was named the “Homemade Pie Capital of Minnesota” by Gov. Rudy Perpich in 1990. The fame for pie began in the 1930s and 40s when folks would drive to their lake homes, taking the “shortcut to Duluth through Braham.” After driving from the Twin Cities they would stop at the Park Cafe for pie and coffee.

Bonerama is a New Orleans-based band that fuses everything that has made that city’s music famous into a genre-defying gumbo. The band takes elements of rock, soul, fusion, pop, jazz, funk, brass, gospel and blues to forge its unique sound.
