Gutenberg! The Musical!

April 17-19 & 24-26 @730pm and 20 & 27 @2pm With the power of friendship and a lot of historical fiction, writing partners Bud and Doug have created a musical about unsung hero and inventor of the printing press, Johannes Gutenberg. They're here to present their show to potential producers and take it to the capital of the United States: Broadway! They built the set, hired as many musicians as they could afford, and are playing all the parts. What could go wrong?

Becky Schlegel’s professional music career started in her teens, performing at VFWs and American Legion Halls across South Dakota.By the late 1990s, she had entered the bluegrass scene and begun writing. Her first solo release, 2002’s Red Leaf, added a contemporary flair to her bluegrassy sound and was named “Bluegrass Recording of the Year” by the Minnesota Music Academy.

Jewish Girlhood in Minnesota Conversation

Though rooted in necessity due to antisemitism, Jewish sororities provided a fun social outlet coupled with a sense of belonging. Join Robin Doroshow of the Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest and Kate Dietrick of the Upper Midwest Jewish Archives at the University of Minnesota Libraries for a conversation about the need for – and the fun had by – Jewish sororities. Come learn about this history through stories and archives.

Home Club Author Event

Celebrate the release of the new MNHS Press book "Home Club: Up-and-Comers and Comebacks at Acme Comedy Company" with an evening of comedy and conversation. Join author Patrick Strait, Acme Comedy Club owner Louis Lee, and comedian Bryan Miller to hear the inside story of how a Chinese immigrant survived staggering failures and achieved hard-won successes in turning a small, struggling Minneapolis comedy club into a landmark that has launched careers and made headlines.

Doors open at 6:30 pm. Book signing afterwards. Admission is free.

Dinner and Dueling Pianos at Winehaven!

Enjoy an amazing dinner and dueling piano show at Winehaven! The winery will be filled with the sounds of music from the 1970's all the way up to the current favorites! The doors open at 6:30 and dinner starts at 7:00 pm.
