Twin Cities Book Hop

Not a bar hop, but a Book Hop! Join us for a day of fun as we travel between Minneapolis bookstores exploring the independent bookstore markets and enjoy the local shops. From 10am-11:30pm a Book Fair at Open Book will be held, followed by the Hop. We will Hop from 12pm-4pm. Join us all after for a Book Club with the author! Food provided. LQBTQA+ friendly, everyone is welcome! This is a free event, no book minimum.

Strides Against Bladder Cancer

The UMN Department of Urology is hosting their annual Strides Against Bladder Cancer walk to raise funds and awareness for bladder cancer research. This family-friendly 3K walk takes place on Saturday, May 10 at Boom Island Park. All proceeds benefit bladder cancer research and education at the department's Institute for Prostate and Urologic Cancers. Each participant will receive a T-shirt at check-in. A veteran of over forty albums, he won the 2011 Best Contemporary Jazz Album Grammy for The Stanley Clarke Band.

Memorial Day at the Fort

Join us for Memorial Day to learn about the expansive military history at Historic Fort Snelling.

The historic fort will be open to explore at your own pace in addition to special events specifically for the holiday. There will be a flag ceremony, cannon firing, swing band performances, a period speech from World War II and a performance by the Fife & Drum Corps. Visitors can also witness the firing of historic rifles from five different eras of the fort’s history.

The Brooklyn Big Band will be performing at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm inside the historic fort.
